Statement of philosophy

The Multimedia Design Major enables students to design, develop, and critically evaluate a variety of media from logo design through video production. Student learning focuses on the design and development of media from two-dimensional and three-dimensional perspectives in both traditional and digital methodologies. In addition, students develop an understanding of the fundamentals of digital communication regulation, policy and emerging trends in digital technologies. Students will develop these skills through course work in traditional and contemporary media, including industry standard software. This multifaceted approach is designed to provide students with adaptive skills applicable to a wide range of careers in the design industry. Coursework is supplemented by internships.

In the course Visual Arts Capstone, ART 485, students will design and implement a project of their own design in consultation with faculty. This semester long project will highlight the student’s own creative vision and long-term project management skills.
