DESC 110 Introduction to Decision Science (1)
This one-credit introductory course offers a comprehensive overview of decision science. The course will introduce the Decision Quality Framework championed by the Strategic Decision Group (SDG). Students taking this course will explore how structured decision-making can enhance outcomes in their academic work, their health, and athletic performance. They will also explore how strategic decision-making can enhance outcomes in business, public policy, healthcare, and everyday life, through interactive discussions, thought experiments, case studies, and lectures from outside speakers (local leaders and coaches).
DESC 210 Applied Decision Science (1)
Prerequisite: DESC- 110. This one-credit course offers a comprehensive overview of decision science. DESC 310 Applied Decision Making (3)
Prerequisite: CIV 210. This course explores how people and organizations make choices and how they can make better ones. By using decision frameworks, students will practice analyzing problems, recognizing common biases, weighing risks, and applying ethical reasoning, all while building strong data, critical thinking, and communication skills.
